Sleeping caps, satin bonnets, hair scarves, wave caps or whatever you want to call them can help extend the life of a hairstyle, help the hair retain moisture, reduce the lint build-up in the hair and help preserve your bedding.
Your cotton sheets, bedspreads, comforters, etc. can absorb moisture from the hair, which can lead to dry hair; and dry hair can lead to brittle hair that is prone to breakage. So protecting your hair and your children’s hair at night can help reduce hair breakage, especially around the sides and back of the head.
A strip of satin cloth wrapped around and pinned to the underside of their crib mattress to secure the strip of satin can help protect their hair from being broken and pulled out by their cotton sheets.
Note: For smaller children I recommend avoiding wave caps with the tie strings. The strings can become a choking hazard if they come undone.
Here’s a solution to the million dollar question of – HOW DO I KEEP IT ON?
